The Club de Tenis Valencia was founded in 1905 under the name Sporting Club, playing a key role in the development of tennis in Spain and forming part of the origins of what is now the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation. The club experienced steady growth, relocating several times before establishing itself as one of the city’s leading sporting institutions.
Under the leadership of Alfredo Faulconbridge, the club entered a defining period in the 1930s with the creation of the Copa Faulconbridge in 1933, one of the oldest and most emblematic tournaments in Spanish tennis. Since then, the club has hosted major competitions and has played a key role in the promotion of tennis in Valencia.
Its current venue has staged major events such as Davis Cup ties and the 1995 Fed Cup Final, as well as more recent professional tournaments including the Open Ciudad de Valencia and the revival of the Copa Faulconbridge in 2022.
With more than a century of history, the Club de Tenis Valencia is now a national and international reference, also recognized for its membership in the Centenary Tennis Clubs, which brings together some of the most prestigious historic clubs in the world.
